“We should not become participants in this war. It is important that this limit is always respected,” he told public radio station Deutschlandfunk on Wednesday.

This consideration plays a major role in all assessments of support for Ukraine, he said before returning from a two-day visit to Kyiv.

“We always evaluate how far such a step can go to actively involve us in the war,” he explained.

When asked where he personally draws the red line, the vice chancellor answered: “Let the German troops be in Ukraine.”

Habek and Chancellor Olaf Scholz have already said several times that Germany. A NATO member country should not participate in the war.

The government in Berlin supports German companies operating in Ukraine

Khabek, who is also the Minister of Economy, arrived on Monday with a delegation of businessmen to Ukraine, where he also met with government representatives.

The topics of the trip were the reconstruction of Ukraine and cooperation in the energy sector.

Habek also discussed increasing the presence of German companies in the war-torn country.

To make it attractive or even possible for German companies to work in Ukraine under these conditions, the Berlin government offers them investment guarantees.

This risk must be balanced by the prospect of hope that Ukraine needs, the vice chancellor told Deutschlandfunk.

“Besides the strong will to rebuild and, I think, the amazing courage of people to look forward, the country has suffered incredibly. Support for her was justified and necessary,” Khabek added.
