Another summer, another Feast of Athens and Epidaurus. Countdown, Festival announced his program this year and among many interesting events, it gives us the opportunity for another year to see some important international and domestic musical names in Athens and Epidaurus.
We studied the program of the festival and We have singled out the following eleven concertos:
John Cale & Band with the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra

Never; Monday 19 June
Where; Odeon of Herodes Atticus
From the legendary Velvet Underground to an unstoppable solo career, John Cale has been reinventing himself in the most creative ways for decades. With this year’s album “Mercy” in his luggage, the Welsh musician comes to our country for a concert not only with his band, but also with the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra.
water boys

Never; Thursday, June 22
Where; Odeon of Herodes Atticus
Few people love the Waterboys as much as the Greek public, so Mike Scott renews his date with them, at least for the first time in the imposing space of Herodium. Soon the Scots will be there to play their “big music” under the Athenian sky.
Nils Fram

Never; Friday, June 23
Where; Odeon of Herodes Atticus
The Berlin composer, who loves electronic music as much as he loves the keys of his piano, has acquired a fanatical audience in our country, so he is again preparing to set up his many keyboards and consoles on stage and unleash their sound.
Sigur Rós with the London Contemporary Orchestra

Never; Tuesday 27 June
Where; Odeon of Herodes Atticus
Those who saw Sigur Rós on the Water Square in 2016 will never forget them. Yes, and how to forget them, when the all-consuming music of the Icelanders was accompanied in their appearance by a summer storm with lightning. Those of you who want to remember this night know what to do on June 27th.
Giannis Angelakas and The 100°C

Never; Monday 3 July
Where; Odeon of Herodes Atticus
Giannis Angelakas needs no introduction, as he is an indisputable constant on the national concert map. Three years after his appearance on Irodeion with Nikos Veliotis for “Wolves in the Land of Miracles”, the musician returns, this time with the band that has accompanied him constantly in recent years, 100°C.
Psarantonis

Never; Saturday 8 July
Where; Small theater of ancient Epidaurus
The live performances of Psarantonis can only be described as Cretan mysticism. Especially in a place of special importance, such as the Small Theater of ancient Epidaurus.
James with Orca22 Symphony Orchestra and Manchester Inspirational Voices Gospel Choir

Never; Monday 10 July
Where; Odeon of Herodes Atticus
Whether you’re a fan of the band or not, no one can deny the amazing energy that James has live, thanks in large part to their frontman Tim Booth. This time, however, the Brits have something different in the works as they will be celebrating their 40th anniversary as a band and a 22-piece orchestra and gospel choir will join their celebrations.
Herbie Hancock

Never; Tuesday 11 July
Where; Odeon of Herodes Atticus
One of the longest-lived names in jazz, Herbie Hancock has a career spanning many years that includes collaborations with Donald Byrd, Miles Davis and Chick Corea, as well as music he has written for films such as Michelangelo Antonioni’s Blow Up.
Stamatis Kraunakis – “Eros Anikate Mahan”

Never; Wednesday, July 12
Where; Small theater of ancient Epidaurus
For this concert, Stamatis Kraunakis will assemble the most romantic songs of his career, which will be performed at an evening where Lydia Fotopooulou will be his special guest.
Kraftwerk

Never; Sunday 16 July
Where; Odeon of Herodes Atticus
The dusseldorf quartet, to whom we owe electronic music, will bring their robotic show to Athens and we are very curious what it will look like in a place like Herodeo.
Gilberto Gill and family

Never; Monday, July 17
Where; Odeon of Herodes Atticus
This year’s festival in Athens and Epidaurus, among others, will feature Brazilian tropical legend Gilberto Gill, who will end his 60-year career with a farewell concert.
