Tempi: The only one of the new stationmasters who declared his readiness for service.

Capable of being on duty on his own, the long-dead railroad worker declared immediately after his internship accident in Tempe stationmaster Vasilis Samaras. On the contrary, the remaining 13 newly hired station chiefs, seconded, like Samara, to the Larissa inspection, declared themselves unprepared and initially at least asked to serve as reinforcements – assistants to permanent and experienced station chiefs. This follows from the testimony given on March 23 to the investigator in response to Larisa’s complaint by young, contracted station chiefs, who completed a course of theoretical and practical training together with Samaras.

In particular, the 30-year-old contract head of the station G.Ts. informed the investigator that the theoretical training program for newly hired stationmasters began on August 1, 2022, and their practical training was completed six months later, on January 24, 2023. The next morning, all 14 stationmasters selected to work in the Larisu district summoned to the prosecutor’s office (he was taken into custody on Thursday evening’s statement, unfairly, according to his lawyer Yannis Glykas).

“He asked us if we were ready to work. He told us that if someone has a problem, they can talk about it privately. Vasilis Samaras said he was ready to work everywhere. Panagiotis X. (here the name of the contract head of the station who was prosecuted for the accident is mentioned) stated that he was not ready to be on duty at Larisa station alone, like everyone else,” a 30-year-old contract serviceman testified to the OSE. This was also pointed out in her testimony to the appellant investigator by a 37-year-old contract woman, one of the 14 newly hired chiefs of the Larisova Inspectorate. “From the first days, it seemed that Vassilis Samaras knew a lot about the railway, terminologies, railway terms and was more mature in age. He said he was ready.” He repeated that the only one out of a group of 14 employees who from the first moment declared his readiness to stand alone at the headquarters of the Larisa station was the arrested Vassilis Samaras.

Of the 14 people who graduated from high school together, 13 asked from the start not to work alone. The exception was the head of the Larisa station, who was taken into custody today.

During the March 27 apology, the accused station manager Larisa Panagiotis was asked a question about the above reports during his apology, which confirmed the words of his colleagues, indicating that “Samaras declared his readiness to work at any station, and all the others, and especially for Larissa We said we weren’t ready.”

What did he do wrong?

Newly hired employees who went through a training program with Vassilis Samaras in January 2023 were asked by the appellate investigator to evaluate “what he did wrong that night.” “He didn’t plot the route,” they said, adding that “otherwise the key would have turned by itself in a straight line.”
