The United States conducted a military operation on Monday that killed a senior leader of the Islamic State group in Syria, Reuters reported in a statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
Khalid Aydd Ahmad al-Jabouri was responsible for planning ISIS attacks in Europe and developed ISIS’s leadership structure, the statement said.
No civilians were killed or injured in the attack, CENTCOM said, adding that the group “continues to pose a threat to the region and beyond.”
Last week, the TASS news agency reported that Russia had protested to the US-led coalition against Islamic State militants over “provocative actions” by US forces in Syria.
