On April 1, the Attica Security Directorate Property Crime Prosecution Department announced an investigation into the theft of five safes from a bank store vault on July 8, 2022. Three foreigners aged 46, 42 and 46 were found guilty, at the expense of whom a criminal case was initiated on the creation and entry into a criminal organization and particularly distinguished cases of embezzlement.

In the course of the investigation of this case and after a thorough and thorough investigation by the preliminary investigation bodies, together with the international prosecution authorities, it turned out that three defendants form members of a transnational mobile criminal group who specializes in bank robberies.

Thus, the action of an international criminal group in our country on a specific burglary case, which was part of their overall organized action planning, was identified and witnessed.

How did they act?

The defendants entered our country a few days earlier to study possible targets. Having chosen a bank in New Smyrna, they visited it several times over the course of three days to map the area, as well as record its appearance on video for further careful security measures.

Dividing their roles, they entered the store one by one wearing surgical masks, pretending to be customers.

Exactly following their plan, they got to the vault unnoticed, broke into 5 safes and took away the jewels inside.

They left the store and took separate escape routes. Then, while talking to each other on the phone, they met at a point far from the bank.

On the same day they left the countrytraveling by air to a European Union country.

The case was referred to the Athenian Public Prosecutor’s Office and arrest warrants, both national and international, were issued.
