Euroins claimants and customers have made more than 30,500 requests to the Fund for Policyholders’ Guarantees (FGA) for claims for payment of claims or premium refunds, but the Fund has so far only officially registered just over 10,100 such requests.
The FGA announced on Monday that it had received more than 3,700 requests to open claims from 17 March 2023 (the date Euroins’ operating license was revoked) until 2 April 2023, of which the Fund had officially registered 2,307 requests to open damage files.
More than 30,500 payment requests, of which only a third are officially registered. Explanation of FGA
The FGA also announced on Monday that it received 30,592 requests for the payment request category in the same time period.
Of these, 10,164 requests were officially registered, namely:
- 7958 payment requests for reimbursement/compensation (Appendix 10)
- 2,206 payment requests for premium refunds (Appendix 9).
“Please note that the final number of payment requests registered with the Federal Tax Service may differ from the number of received requests, due to the fact that some requests are sent several times (duplicates), through several communication channels (e-mail, portal, mail, etc.) or are requests that do not fall under the category of payment requirements (requests, various requests, questions, etc.).
Therefore, the FGA invites potential insurance creditors of Societăță Euroins România Asigurare Reasigurare SA to submit payment requests (Appendix 9/10) as well as claims opening requests (Appendix 7) only through the special portals presented on the FGA website. This facilitates both registration activities and further processing of claims for the benefit of insurance creditors.” This is stated in the FGA press release.
The fund also says it logs claims in the order they are received and distributes them for claims opening or analysis in the same order.
The FGA also informs potential insurance creditors who request the opening of a claim file with the FGA that in order to obtain adequate reimbursement, a payment claim – Schedule 10 must be submitted after the opening of the claim file.
The Fund reminds potential insurance creditors who apply to open a claim with the FGA that a payment claim must be submitted after the claim has been opened in order to receive adequate compensation.
We remind you that the ASF has withdrawn the authorization to operate Euroins, which has already affected Romanians who will have the misfortune of being hit in traffic by one of the 2.8 million insured of the former RCA leader.
The FGA has paid out more than €156 million for just 80,000 files out of 255,000 bankruptcy filings for last year’s City Insurance, which now includes Euroins, where the ASF expects payments of more than €250 million.
