Left without a head coach following the resignation of Leo Strizou, FCSB appointed Elias Charalambous on Thursday. The Cypriot gave the first statements in the new position, preceding the duel with Sepsi in the second stage of the Super League playoffs.

The former footballer, who spent time at FC Vaslui, was happy to return to Romania at what he considers the biggest club in the country and highlighted the very good conditions in the team.

“I am happy to be here again after 10 years. It was great to get the offer because it’s the biggest club in the country, they’ve achieved a lot in Europe and they’re famous all over the world, they’ve got incredible fans, a lot of history and I don’t regret coming. It is a challenge for me to be here.

It was a pleasant surprise, the atmosphere in the team is fantastic. I have football experience and I understand the atmosphere there. It is very good here. The atmosphere is very important to me, it helps to achieve important things.

I was also surprised by the good conditions here, there is everything, it is very important for the players, for the staff.

I am one of those people who believe in work. The goals of the club are known, but the main thing is the next match against Sepsi, which will take place on Monday.

The Cypriot will make his debut on the bench on April 3 as FCSB face Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe in the second leg of the Superliga playoffs.
