Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, suffered a concussion and four broken ribs in the collision. He claimed the injuries resulted in a traumatic brain injury and sought more than $3 million in damages from Paltrow in a civil suit.

Sanderson, 76, told the hearing that the woman, who he later learned was actress Gwyneth Paltrow, hit him after he “lost control” while skiing at Deer Valley Resort in Park City.

A friend of Sanderson said he saw Paltrow bump into the former doctor.

Paltrow denied the allegations, saying that she did not cause the accident, but that Sanderson was the one who hit her from behind while skiing. After just two hours of deliberation, eight jurors on Thursday returned a verdict in favor of the actress and decided that Sanderson was 100% guilty.

Gwyneth Paltrow asked for symbolic compensation

The artist received symbolic compensation of one dollar, which the artist demanded in a counterclaim.

Paltrow and Sanderson, who testified during the trial, were present in court for the verdict.

The actress previously said that she was “very sorry” that Sanderson’s health had deteriorated after the incident, but always maintained that she was not “at fault” and that she was a “victim” of the accident.

During the trial, several people were interviewed, including two children of the actress, Apple and Moses Martin, who were skiing with their mother on the day of the accident.

The highly publicized trial thrust Paltrow back into the American public spotlight after she, one of Hollywood’s hottest actresses of the late 1990s and 2000s, drastically reduced her film appearances to focus on her private life and business. .
