World women’s Day every year becomes an occasion not only to see in words the importance of highlighting women’s issues, but also to act. This happened in his case too. #ArtActs4Womeninteractive charity event organized by the fine arts Maria Frangudaki and Art Hub Athens. Its purpose was to strengthen the work of the SHE-Society for Help & Empowerment, which is dynamically promoting women’s empowerment issues. Those artists and non-artists who participated in the action received Postcard Postal. “I didn’t want it to be a controlled project,” says the visual artist, hence those “white canvases” where everyone created their own piece of art they were even handed out to florists and passers-by. With this drawing“Coexistence” Maria Fragoudaki wanted to open a creative dialogue; the opera came true, judging by the fact that in many works the female gaze literally dominated, since the leading role belongs to the eyes.
The 450 cards created are being sold through March 31st at an online exhibition (www.artacts4women.com) with proceeds going to SHE. All this until the next women’s day, when Mrs. Fragoudaki plans to organize an exhibition with a physical presence. “A postcard that brings people together and at the same time helps women in need,” she notes, and this could be the start of something more.
