According to ERT, the OSE design is as follows:
- From Saturday, April 1, trains will run on the route Athens – Paleofarsalos and commuter trains Paleofarsalos – Kalambaka will be launched.
- From April 3, passenger trains will be launched along the Athens-Thessaloniki axis (a couple of routes) and commercial trains along the Thessaloniki-Strimonas-Promachonas section.
- On April 5, trains Lianoklady – Stylida and Athens – Lianoklady will run.
- Routes along the Larisa-Volos axis are planned for April 10.
First commercial trains
The sound of the train was heard again when the Hellenic Train’s first commercial service began after the Tempe accident.
On Wednesday at 21:45 a train departed from Thessaloniki to Triassio, and at 22:20 a train from Athens arrived at the OSE marshalling yard in Diavat around 07:30 on Thursday. This second train carried pipes and consisted of about 20 cars.
The resumption of the company’s freight operations came after lengthy negotiations between OSE and Hellenic Train on rail safety measures.
During the discussions, the communication systems in the Tempe and Platamon tunnels were considered, and it was decided to place transmitters at certain points in the direction of Idomeni, as well as to guard the passages in Idomeni.
