​CFR SA has signed a contract for the amount of 82 million lei for work on the replacement of elements of the track superstructure in a row of 21 km on the Bucharest-Pitesti railway line. Trains run between the two cities in about an hour and 45 minutes with an average speed of 62 km/h and a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

There are 13 pairs of trains running daily between the two cities in each direction, the fastest one takes an hour and 35 minutes. On 21 km, where repair work will be carried out, the maximum speed will increase to 120 km/h.

The line is part of highway 101 Bucharest – Pitesti – Slatina – Piatra Olt, on which the average speed was not much higher even in the prosperous periods of the railway.

This is the first of three recovery contracts funded by the National Plan for Recovery and Resilience (PNRR).

Regional branch CF Craiova and association Strabag – Metabet CF SA signed today a contract for the replacement of the track superstructure in a row on the line CF Bucharest – Pitesti, the interval Kelineşti – Golesti – Pitesti, from km 95 +000 to km 107+ 575, including lines 1a, 1b, 5 and 6 from Golești CF station.

The cost of the contract with a period of 18 months is 82,131,439.74 lei, the financing is carried out from PNRR grants, for the works on the replacement of elements of the track superstructure in the 21 km line of CF, including lines 1a, 1b, 5 and 6 from Golești CF station .

Replacement works

  • rails, track devices, parts of track devices,
  • transitional passes wooden sleepers, normal and special (for track devices and bridges)
  • bridge girders, embossed and non-embossed metal decking for bridges
  • fully equipped concrete sleepers
  • elastic slabs for railway crossings
  • small material, crushed stone
  • make a path without beams

The purpose of the work on the replacement of the components of the upper structure of the track on the 21 km KP is to bring the line into the design parameters, increase the maximum speed of passenger trains to 120 km/h, eliminate the costs associated with the restriction, increase the efficiency of operational activities and maximize safety.

The superstructure replacement works on another section, Chitila – Goleşti, with a total length of 196 km CF, will be carried out within the framework of two lots proposed by SRCF Bucharest, with a total estimated value of 663 million lei and which is currently in the evaluation stage of 4 submissions proposals
