Postcards Enough to Empower Women

In the minds of many, postcards are associated with distant memories and carefree walks along the alleys with tourist stalls. The postcard is, of course, primarily a means of conveying a message.

This is exactly what happened with #ArtActs4Women. An interactive charity event organized by artist Maria Fragoudaki and ART HUB Athens | Cultural and humanitarian organization on the occasion of International Women’s Day to strengthen the work of SHE-Society for Help & Empowerment. An organization that dynamically promotes women’s rights and works primarily for the empowerment of women.

The idea was this: those artists and non-artists who participated in the action received a postcard. “I didn’t want it to be a controlled project,” says the visual artist, so these “white canvases” on which everyone created their work of art were even distributed to florists and passers-by. Although the participating artists as well as the emerging artists did not know each other, Maria Fragoudaki hoped for the “coexistence” of this painting to open up a dialogue between these creations.

“Opera and it happened. In their inspirational postcards, the creators, including those for children, combined pop symbols, they allowed a rainbow of hope for women to appear, they did not forget that Greece is also one of them, while many of the works are dominated by the female look, literally, because the eyes were in the leading role (here is the necessary dialogue).

Around 450 created postcards will be collected through March 31st at an online exhibition where anyone can buy one and be part of women’s empowerment, with proceeds going to SHE.

All this until the next women’s day, when the #ArtActs4Women creator too hopes to put on a physical exhibition, as “a postcard that brings people together and at the same time helps some women in need” could be the start of something. more.
