“Finding the End of the Thread Again” by Leontos Nara, “Chronicle of a Dyslexic” by Yiannis Paschos, “I Was Not a Fugitive” by Ismenis Kariotakis.

Reading these days “In the Shadow of Stalin” by Nikos Marantsidis, I once again felt surprised at the unknown moments of history that need to be highlighted.

Jules Verne. All. From the children’s library of Tumba.

A calm moment, without phones, computers and distractions that have now turned into a nightmare. The usual distraction.

Nobody. I accepted lightness as an escape.

“Naples, my love” by Alessio Forzone.

The writer’s ability to make me sensitive. Awaken memories, images, feelings.

Stories of people whose lives are of little concern to many, passing through this world, imperceptibly carrying heavy loads. In these stories there is no trace of glory, no trace of justification. The endings of the stories are very dramatic. They carry the cancellation. Cancellation. Defeat.

They are often the raw material for tragedy, the occasion to feel again what it means to feel together, to suffer together, to suffer together. My heroes are people who, no matter how much they hoped that light would be shed in their own lives, that they would turn the tide of decline, could not survive this upheaval. The elements that a person predominantly encounters in his life are illness, loneliness, alcohol consolation, breakup, despair. The problem is that when you come face to face with them, the observer also gets emotional.
