Night battle, in order to limit the fronts of fire in the area of the village of Mendenitsa, as well as the village of Karavidia in the Molos region in Fthiotida, is carried out by firefighters, where, together with the infantry units, they try to control one front after another.
The fire began shortly after 5:00 pm and, aided by strong winds in excess of 6 Beaufort, immediately became large. He threatened the village of Karavidia, but moved a few meters away from the last houses and moved menacingly towards the village of Mendenitsa, surrounded by a dense pine forest.
A powerful firefighting force with dozens of vehicles and over 60 firefighters, along with three groups of infantry divisions, are pushing for a big battle, while firefighting forces have gathered from as far away as Thessaly.
Earthmovers from the region of Central Greece and the municipality of Kameni Vourla, as well as water carriers, support their work, while before dark two aircraft were also active, striking on the central fronts to limit the destructive course of the fire.
Firefighters with foot units walked around the perimeter of houses in the village of Karavidia, fearing a re-ignition, while trying to stop the spread of fire in a pine forest a few meters from the village of Mendenitsa.
The hope at this point is to limit the wind, thus allowing the pedestrian units, along with the fire engines, to move forward in order to control as much of the front of fire as possible. However, the project is complex, as meteorological forecasts indicate very strong winds over a wider area.
