OUR Joe Goldbergand return to the small screen one last time.
On Friday, Netflix announced that “You“, a thriller series featuring Penn Badgley as serial killer Joe – renewed for a fifth and final season.
However, in the fifth cycle of episodes, the line-up changes, with producers Michael Foley and Justin Lowe replacing Serra Gamble, who originally developed the series with Greg Berlanti and remained on the project for the first four seasons.
“Having taken a step back to focus on new projects, I am grateful to have worked with Greg Berlanti, Caroline Kepnes and colleagues at Warner Bros. Studio and Netflix,” Gamble said in a statement. “It was an honor for me to create a series with writers, producers, directors, actors. I was lucky to work with such a charismatic and kind artist as Penn Badgley. I am proud of what we have achieved and consider it an honor to pass the baton. I’m excited to watch and support the You team as they complete Joe’s story.”
The series, which originally aired on the Lifetime network and later joined the Netflix library, was a huge success worldwide.
Along with the announcement of the final season, Netflix teased the public with the question of Joe’s fate: “Will Joe Goldberg finally live to see Doomsday?”
Details on when production on the fifth season will begin will be announced at a later date, according to Netflix. But what we do know is that perhaps the story will return to where it started: Joe’s house. In a January interview with Variety, Gamble said, “We’d love to go back to New York to watch the end of the story.”
