Divine Liturgy of the High Priest for the Victims of the Railway Accident Pace took place today in the chapel of Agios Philippos at the railway station in Thessaloniki, and the trisaio was followed by the Metropolitan of Naples and Stavropol, Mr. Varnavas.
Many people, including Ampelokipi Mayor Menemeni Lazaros Kirizoglou, were in attendance and laid wreaths and flowers along the way in memory of all those who lost their lives in the tragic accident.
The Metropolitan of Naples and Stavropol characteristically said: “They would have arrived at this station, but they never arrived, so we will always read their names in this church so as not to forget them.”
He himself spoke of the abandoned station of Thessaloniki, to which he characteristically mentioned: “We shout that this symbolic building smells of death itself, languishing from indifference, from lack of love.”
The parents of the young Elizabeth of Oreokastro, who was also on board the fatal carriage, were present. Her father talked about how impressed he was that she didn’t take responsibility after so many days. In fact, the question he was asking was: “How can they live when they have so many souls on them.”
Meanwhile, yesterday, students from Eleftherios-Kordelios 1st High School marched wearing black armbands in mourning over the unjust death of their classmate Panagiotis, who is among the victims of Tempi, while shouting the slogan: “You live, you live, Panagiotis you live”.
