
The organizers of the Miami Open tournament announced the schedule for Sunday, March 26, in which Sorana Kirstya will play in the third round of the “WTA 1000” competition.
Sorana Kirstea – Karolina Mukhova, in the third round of WTA Miami
In the second match of the day on court 1 (after Fresh – Hrachova), Sorana Kirstya (74th place in the world ranking) will meet with Karolina Mukhova (55th WTA, out of qualification). The game will start around 19:30 (Romanian time).
Sorana and Karolina met twice before, and each time the athlete from the Czech Republic won: 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(7) at US Open 2020 and 6-4, 7- 6(4) at Dubai 2023.
Muhova has a WTA title on her record (Seoul 2019) and her highest ranking in the world was No. 19 (May 2021). In 2023, Carolina had 15 wins and 4 losses.

- The winner of the match between Kirstea and Mukhova will play in the 1/8 finals with the winner of the match between Karolina Pliskova (17th favorite) and Marketa Vondrousova (103 WTA).
- After reaching the third round, Sorana Kirstea earned $55,770 and 65 WTA singles points.
- Qualification in the round of 16 is awarded with a check for $96,955 and 120 WTA points.
- In the women’s singles, Romania had two more representatives, but Ana Bohdan and Iryna Begu were already eliminated.
- Also on Sunday, in the fourth match on court 7, Monica Niculescu and Poland’s Alicia Rosolska will play in the round of 16 doubles against Storm Hunter / Elise Mertens (Australia / Belgium, favorites 5).
The Miami Open takes place from March 21 to April 2 on hard, is part of the “WTA 1000” category and has a total prize pool of $8,800,000. There are 96 players in the main draw, and the reigning champion is Iga Svyatek.
