Italian authorities are looking for a man who jumped from a three-story building into a canal in Venice on Thursday, photos of which have gone viral, News.ro reports with reference to CNN.

The mayor of Venice, Luigi Bruniaro, tweeted that the man, an “idiot”, should receive a “certificate of stupidity and many strokes”. “We are trying to identify him to expose him and his friend downstairs who made the idiotic video for social media,” the mayor added.

In the video, you can see how a man jumps into the canal from a building.

The mayor sent the police to the relevant building to establish how a man could break into a private residential building and climb onto the roof.

“He risked his life by jumping, but he is a criminal. They do not understand the danger they create. What would have happened if the boat had passed him?” Brugnaro said.

Brugnaro appealed to those who see the video to help identify the person. He also asked people not to like the video on social media.
