The Athens Metro Workers’ Union (SELMA) says it’s a warning. 24 hour strike on issues hindering the implementation of the fixed-line transport project (STA.SY.) and the daily service of 1.5 million passengers.

Issues raised by SELMA

  1. Shortage of 847 employees: drivers, technicians, stationmasters and specialized railway personnel.
  2. Lack of new trains and spare parts of trains and materials of the railway infrastructure of the network.
  3. Failure to comply.
  4. Assignment and state recognition of railway professions and specialties to all railway employees.
  5. Updating and revision of the regulations for work on wires and work in the network of all STA.SY lines.

“We put them above their responsibility, and it would be especially interesting if government officials answered us whether the demands of the workers would be completely legal and fair, or if they would once again take pity on the neck and consider us unfair and illegal. that we claim to keep passengers safe through our strike,” the related announcement reads.
