Without Metro will remain in Athens tonight from 21:00 until the end of traffic due to a work stoppage warning issued by the Trade Union of Attica Metro Workers (SELMA).
The problems that have plagued Fixed Transportation (STASY) for years are making it difficult to carry out the transport project and serve 1.5 million passengers daily, workers say.
Issues raised by SELMA:
- Lack of drivers, technicians, stationmasters and specialized railway personnel.
- Lack of trains and spare parts of trains and railway infrastructure.
- Failure to comply.
- Updating and revising procedures for wire work and network work, with STASY’s full-time permanent staff, without the professional risks imposed by contractors to increase their profits.
“For all of the above, the union announces a warning stop of work from 21:00 until the end of the movement,” the corresponding announcement says.
