​Registrations of all-electric cars in the EU rose by 32% in two months, and doubled in some smaller markets, including Romania, according to ACEA data. Diesel cars became cheaper by 5%, and gasoline cars became more expensive by 12%.

In January and February, 169,000 fully electric cars were registered in the EU, their share is a record 12% of the total market.

The largest electric market was Germany with 50,000 vehicles, followed by France with 34,000, these two countries accounting for half of all electric vehicle sales. In Romania, 2,113 electric cars were registered in circulation in two months, which is twice as much as in the same period of 2022. The number of electric cars increased by more than 100% in several small markets: Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Portugal, Slovenia.

Gasoline cars increased from 522,000 to 584,000, and diesel cars increased by 13,000 to 240,000.

In total, 1.56 million cars were registered in the EU in two months, which is 11% more than in 2022. The Volkswagen brand occupies 11% of the market, Toyota – 7.2%, Mercedes – 5.7%, Dacia – 5.6%.
