On Saturday, Pope Francis received in audience several refugees who arrived in European countries through the humanitarian corridors project. Since 2016, more than 6,000 refugees have been brought through humanitarian corridors by Christian organizations, and the Sovereign Pontiff recognized their desire to “live without fear and insecurity,” AFP reported, according to News.ro.
The Pope thanked the organizations that help the refugees, noting that the reception is “the first step towards peace”.
Refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, South Sudan, Libya and Ukraine were brought through humanitarian corridors. They are located in various European countries.
“Each of you deserves attention for what you have lived. You have shown a firm will to live without fear and insecurity,” Pope Francis addressed the refugees.
