Mercedes are far from the rivals in this debut season in Formula 1 (as they were in 2022) and Toto Wolff (team boss) says that if they do not give Lewis Hamilton a competitive car, then the Briton could leave the multiple world champion.

Lewis Hamilton could leave Mercedes if things go this badly
Hamilton finished 5th in Bahrain (the first round of the new F1 season) and the single-seater Mercedes looked poor compared to the competition.
RedBull is again the first fiddle, while Aston Martin and Ferrari are also ahead of Mercedes.
Under these conditions, Toto Wolff (head of the Mercedes team) says that if he does not offer Hamilton a competitive car, then he has every right to think about leaving.
Lewis’ contract with Mercedes expires at the end of 2024, and if things don’t go his way this season and next, the multiple world champion could part ways with his current team.
At the age of 38, Hamilton wants another world title that would allow him to surpass the legendary Michael Schumacher (both currently have 7 world titles each).
“If a driver wants to win the world title, he has to have the right car. If we can’t give him that over the next two years, then Lewis needs to look elsewhere.
I don’t think he’s thinking about leaving now, but even if he did in a year or two, I wouldn’t be mad at him,” he says. Toto Wolff.
The Mercedes representative also admitted that things have gone in the wrong direction with the new single-seater and that it will be very difficult for the big rivals to catch up in the next period.
