
A 43-year-old foreigner was arrested in connection with traffic on Thursday morning (16.03) in the center of Athens by officers of the Attica Security Directorate Property Crime Prosecutor’s Office, in a well-known case of theft of more than 120,000 euros, violation of the law on weapons and addictive substances .
As part of the investigation into the case of a burglary that took place between 03/17/2022 and 03/18/2022 in an apartment in Kolonaki, from where a safe with jewelry and valuables of large monetary value was seized, the participation of the accused was identified after a careful combination of information and evidence.
The team of police officers involved in the case established that a few days after the commission of the criminal act, he had left Greece and entered his country of origin.
After cooperating with the authorities in his country, it was determined that the 43-year-old man had changed his identification information. He returned to Greece earlier this month with new information about his identity and a special police team was set up to locate him.
On Thursday morning (16.03) a group of police stopped him in the center of Athens and took him to the headquarters of the Sub-Directorate of Crimes against Life and Property.
Under him, among other things, were discovered and confiscated:
- 12 gold pounds
- jewelry and watches,
- 10 grams of cannabis (cigarettes),
- clothes with prints found inside the aforementioned house,
- mobile phone,
- 63 euros,
- wallet, personal documents and cards.
Following a search of an apartment in Petralona, the following were found and seized:
- 2 pistols
- 70 rounds,
- 14.8 grams hemp,
- high precision weight scale,
- a variety of jewelry, watches and perfumes,
- AMD 19,000,
- number of SIM cards and
- documents for sending money to pawnshops.
It is noted that the accused has already applied to the authorities for similar crimes in the past, while serving time in various penitentiary institutions.
The detainee with the case brought against him was taken to the Prosecutor’s Office for Criminal Cases of Athens, the investigation of his involvement in other similar criminal acts continues.
