On Wednesday, March 15, the Court of Appeal in Bucharest allowed “in principle” an appeal to overturn the criminal sentence that sentenced him to 11 years and 6 months in prison, after finding that “the defendant was convicted even though there was evidence of a reason for the suspension criminal proceedings” (Article 426 part B of the Criminal Procedure Code). A recognition in principle is the starting point in the annulment appeal procedure, when the court finds that the legal conditions for a retrial have been met on the merits.
