A statement without announcing a submission in support of the prosecution was given to the 1st Juvenile Investigator by the General Secretary of Day 25, Yannis Varoufakisfor an attack he received from a group of strangers last Friday in Exarchia.
G. Varoufakis stated that he did not recognize the faces of the two detainees who hit him in the face.
According to what he said after completing his statement, he could only identify the man who hit him, whom he described as a stocky man around 25 years of age.
According to Mr. Varoufakis, the Minister for Citizens’ Protection was quick to identify those responsible for the attack even before the first eyewitness testified.
At the same time, a 19-year-old boy, detained as a member of the group that attacked the secretary of MeRA 25, will testify before the investigator at 13:00.
A bailiff has ordered the release of a 35-year-old man brought in yesterday for incidents in downtown Athens, who police say was in the group that attacked Mr. Varoufakis.
The investigator will examine the evidence and, if he deems it so, demand that a criminal case be opened against him in order to call for an apology.
