Analytically:
Influenza syndromes (regardless of pathogen)
✓ There has been a decrease in the community compared to the previous week.
✓ The 5-14 and 15-64 age groups recorded a decrease, while the 0-4 and >=65 age groups recorded a slight increase.
SARS-CoV2 virus – COVID-19 infection
✓ A positive result in all tested samples showed a decrease compared to the previous week.
✓ The number of hospitalizations for COVID-19 showed a decrease compared to the previous week (18.7% decrease compared to the average weekly number of new hospitalizations in the previous 4 weeks).
✓ The number of new intubations slightly increased compared to the previous week (7% decrease compared to the average weekly number of new intubations over the previous 4 weeks).
✓ The number of patients with COVID-19 infection hospitalized for intubation is 96.
✓ 70 deaths registered with a mean age of 86 years (51 to 95 years).
✓ During weeks 07-08/2023, all sequenced strains belonged to Omicron BA.2 and BA.5 sub-variants.
✓ BA.2 detection rate increased and reached 56% of all sequenced samples within 07-08 weeks.
✓ Sub-option BQ.1.1 was the most frequent sub-option of BA.5.
✓ The most common BA.2 sub-variant was XBB.1.5 (41%), followed by BA.2.75 sub-variant (26%) and XBB sub-variant (16%).
✓ Surveillance of viral load in urban wastewater showed an increase in SARSCoV2 virus circulation in 4 out of 10 areas tested.
