Under the central slogan “Our lives matter”, a large number of people demonstrated on the main streets of Thessaloniki, participating in rallies and protest marches over the fatal train derailment in Tempi.
Today’s mobilization included the morning strike meetings of students and extra-parliamentary leftists in Kamara, at the Venizelos statue, trade unions close to PAME, parents’ associations and student associations, as well as at the railway station, Thessaloniki Workers’ Center, Union of Civil Servants’ Organizations of Thessaloniki, SYRIZA-P. WITH. Thessaloniki, PASOK-KINAL, MERA25 and LAE-AA.
The PAME march passed through the central streets of the city and stopped at the OSE, where it broke up. Earlier, trade union activists GSEE and ADEDY spoke there and honored the memory of the victims of the railway accident with a minute of silence. It ended with another procession of teachers, students and representatives of organizations, as well as delivery men who followed them, honking on motorcycles.
The union meeting then proceeded to the YMATH, where it ended after the first representatives of the organizations pasted a protest resolution on the gates of the ministry.
