Three companies from Romania have submitted applications for the tender for the modernization of the Northern Railway Station, which the CFR estimates at about half a billion lei. The duration of the works is 55 months, of which 9 months are for design and 46 months for execution.

“The following Romanian companies have submitted bids for the design and implementation of works on the MODERNIZATION/CONSOLIDATION/REHABILITATION of CF BUCHAREST NORTH STATION (Stage I),” CFR Infrastructura reports.

  • – ERBAŞU CONSTRUCTIONS
  • – GDO MOV IMPEX SRL

The contract, valued by the CFR at approximately 472 million lei (excluding VAT), has a duration of 55 months, of which 9 months are for development and 46 months for execution.

  • “Thanks to this investment, we want to transform the North Station into a modern multimodal point, as well as an attractive commercial district of the capital,” says Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu.

According to the CFR, the I stage of the modernization project of the North Station involves the consolidation of “facades, roofs, installations and arrangement of public spaces in 3 buildings of the building:

– Body A (buildings on Dinik Golescu Boulevard)

– Building B (center, columns, first class ticket offices)

– Building C (class 2 ticket offices, Calea Grivit̗ei)

What the CFR says will be accomplished:

– modernization/consolidation/reconstruction of the buildings of the Bucharest-Nord passenger station

– modernization of places intended for movement, including for people with disabilities;

– provision of elements of safety and comfort for travelers – railings, ramps for people with disabilities, elevators, access control systems;

– creation of central green areas with a waiting area for public transport;

– regeneration of the territory associated with the Gara de Nord passenger station, according to the principles of a smart city/creative city/green city;

– new ventilation/heating systems;

– modernization of the lighting system and electrical, sanitary-technical, thermal, etc.

– modernization of the public transit information system and telecommunications equipment
