Conducting an urgent preliminary review of the sustainability issues presented Serbia High Bridge in the state of emergency, Kozanis ordered the prosecutor.

  1. Whether the measures taken after the recent discovery of cracks in the ligaments of the High Bridge in Serbia ensure the conditions for the safe use of the bridge even for vehicles of less than 3.5 tons, a fact that is ordered to be established by all means.
  2. If, due to existing restrictions on the use of the bridge, the safe movement of heavy vehicles (over 3.5 tons) is provided by detours, especially when these vehicles pass through populated areas.
  3. What actions have been taken to date to restore the problem of safe traffic on the Servisky Bridge and what are the reasons for the delay in solving this problem.

Note that in 2020, a corresponding criminal case was also initiated.

Ban on all vehicles under consideration

Speaking to APE-MPE, the regional governor of Western Macedonia, Giorgos Kasapidis, advised to remain calm, stressing that in the past two hours he had been placed in special equipment at the point where cracks appear on the tendons of the bridge, so that scientists can track the expansion of cracks at the level of even millimeters.

He noted that “the result of the measurements will show whether we will continue the decision on a complete ban on traffic.”

For his part, Kozani Police Chief Ilias Tsiotzias said that he was waiting for the opinion of experts and services of the region in order to issue, even during the dayRoad measures that will include a “complete ban on both traffic flows”.

It is noted that the passage of all trucks over 3.5 tons is prohibited for several days.
