
At Wednesday’s meeting, the government is expected to approve a number of documents, including Romania’s Strategy for Non-Energy Mineral Resources for the period 2023-2035.
“The strategy establishes general development directions, goals, proposed measures, international standards for sustainable mining and how activities carried out in the field of non-energy mineral resources can contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development. Priorities are represented by: geological research, inventory and assessment of critical raw materials, development and in-depth processing of non-energy mineral resources, environmental restoration and socio-economic restoration, valorization of secondary resources from tailings and settling tanks, use of geothermal waters,” the project’s rationale says.
A draft emergency resolution on establishing social protection measures and amending regulations in the field of social assistance will also be adopted.

At the same meeting, a draft of an emergency order on amending the Law on National Education No. 1/2011 and extending some deadlines will be adopted.

The executive will also adopt a draft law on providing a national framework for the interaction between the information systems of the European Union in the field of borders and visas, police and judicial cooperation and asylum and migration.

With the help of the Memorandum, the executive will approve the start of a process of informing the European Commission and public consultations based on proposals for reforms and investments in the new REPowerEU chapter of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The memorandum will also define the powers of the Ministry of Economy, the national state body with powers in the field of industrial policy, to determine funding opportunities through the mechanism of the state aid scheme for the production of batteries for electric vehicles.
The government will also adopt a memorandum on the topic of including the measure “De minimis aid scheme – Support for the implementation of projects related to the construction of waste processing plants” in the form of non-refundable funds from the revenues of the Ecological Fund, in the economic, budgetary and financial policy of the Romanian state.
