Two people handcuffed for robbing a jewelry store

A man and a woman were arrested by the Sub-Directorate of Crimes Against Life and Property of the Attica Security Directorate yesterday morning (13.03) in connection with motor traffic for serial robberies and robberies involving an accomplice, and for violating the law on weapons.

To put an end to their action, a special police team of the Property Crimes Control Department was created, which managed to arrest them immediately after committing a robbery of a jewelry store in the Agios Dimitrios area.

In more detail, the man, hiding his facial features, entered a jewelry store and, at gunpoint, took out jewelry from the safe, the value of which exceeded 80,000 euros. He then fled in his car.

An important role in the robbery was played by his accomplice, who pretended to be a buyer in order to secure entrance to the jewelry store, and then remained in place to divert the attention of the investigation.

After their detention, investigative actions were carried out, during which all the stolen jewelry was found inside a getaway car belonging to a jewelry store.

Also – among others – were seized:

  • the above vehicle as a means of committing criminal acts,
  • stun gun,
  • 49 unfired rounds and
  • a backpack and clothes worn when committing robberies.

The previous preliminary investigation revealed an additional robbery committed by the above persons in the morning hours of February 22, 2023 at the bank branch in Camatero, from which the amount of 3290 euros was seized.

The detainees, against whom a criminal case has been initiated, have been brought to the competent prosecutor’s office, and the investigation of their involvement in similar criminal acts is ongoing.
