
American writer Paul Auster, whose New York side characters made him famous all over the world, is suffering from canceras his wife announced yesterday, Saturday.
The 76-year-old man was taken to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, his wife Siri Hustwet, also a writer, said on Instagram.
“I was away from Instagram for a while. And this is because my husband was diagnosed with cancer in December, after months of illness,” she wrote.
“Now I live in a place that I named Ruckland. Many cross its borders either because they themselves are ill or because they love someone, a father, child, spouse or friend who is ill or has had cancer. Cancer is different for every patient. All human bodies are the same, and no two are alike,” he described.
“Some survive cancer, some die. Everyone knows this, and yet living close to this truth changes everyday realityGusvet noted.
