Valentin Iliev, the favorite to replace Leo Striz in FCSB

According to GSP, the favorite to occupy the technical bench of the vice-champion of Romania is Valentin Iliev. At the age of 42, the Bulgarian played as a footballer in Gigi Bekali’s team (he also played at the University of Craiova) and will be a coach according to the patron’s taste.

In 2011, Bekali said of the former Bulgarian defender: “I would have kept him at Steaua for the rest of my life. He is always thinking about God. He asked me for permission to leave the camp to confess to Saint Mary.”

And Daniel Panku, Iliev’s former colleague at Grozny “Terek”, spoke about the Bulgarian: “He was extremely professional and the most faithful football player I knew. Tattooed from head to toe with churches, busts.”

Sportal.bg journalists tried to explain the possible move: “The bomb came from Romania: Iliev, the favorite at the head of FCSB. Iliev is very famous in Romanian football. There he played for “Steaua” and “University of Craiova”. In the 2018/2019 season, he was also second coach to Davies Mangia, also at Craiova. Valentin is now just waiting for the boss’s decision.”

As a coach, Valentin Iliev moved to CSKA 1948, CSU Craiova (second after Davis Mangia), Botev Vratsa, Tsarka Selo and CSKA 1948 II.
