A gunman opened fire in central Tel Aviv on Thursday in what was believed to be a terrorist attack, wounding three people before he was “neutralized” by Israeli police, officials said, according to Reuters.

A large number of police and medical personnel responded to Dizenghof Street, the main street in the city center, where the gunman carried out the attack. The restaurant outside remained empty after customers fled the scene, Reuters images showed.

“The suspect was neutralized by the police,” the police said in a statement. Three people were injured, one of whom is in a serious condition, the message says.

There are no details about the circumstances of the attack, although the police said that according to preliminary indications it was a terrorist act.
