Despite the fact that Belarusian President Oleksandr Lukashenko was not directly involved in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he allowed Moscow to use his country’s territory to wage war and send Russian troops into Ukraine.

Russian news agencies, which cited a Security Council resolution in Belarus ordering the development of new doctrine, did not provide details on what the new military instruction might entail.

The document orders “in conditions of escalating global geopolitical tensions” to implement measures “aimed at protecting independence, territorial integrity, sovereignty and the constitutional order from external and internal threats,” reports TASS.

The Security Council of Belarus also instructed the Ministry of Defense to finalize the draft law on the formation of a new voluntary territorial defense within a month.

In February, President Lukashenko ordered the formation of a group of 100-150 thousand volunteers. (Source Agerpres)
