The general mayor of the capital, Nikusor Dan, claims that PSD’s “real stake” in the capital city hall will be zonal urban development plans “for real estate speculators”, in particular, the cancellation of the regime for the protection of the historical area.
The statements came after PSD president Marcel Ciolaku said on Monday evening that Gabriela Firea is the Social Democrats’ candidate for the capital’s mayor’s office and that developers would like to get rid of the current mayor.
“PSD Chairman Marchel Cholaku revealed the real stake of his party in the capital city hall last night in a TV interview: PUZs for real estate speculators, including the cancellation of the regime of protection of the historical territory and maintenance of PUZs and illegal permits issued by the previous administration. To make it clear to the citizens of Bucharest: PSD is the defender of the real estate mafia, those who want to make money from people’s lungs and the health of the city, breaking the law, suffocating the capital and destroying its heritage. The mafia, which the PSD leader claims he has heard nothing about, has been making desperate attempts to build blocks between houses and destroy green spaces for two years,” Nikushor Dan wrote on Facebook.
He noted that no historic buildings or green spaces will be destroyed during his tenure.
“Probably, Gabriela Firea’s pen, with which she signed dozens of permits and illegal construction permits, will now be useful to the PSD in the capital city hall to destroy a few more hectares of green spaces and plant historical buildings. Something like this shouldn’t happen in Bucharest, and it won’t happen as long as I’m mayor,” he wrote.
Marcel Cholaku said on Monday that Gabriela Firea is the candidate of the Social Democrats for the capital’s mayor’s office.
“Gabriela Firea is a PSD candidate for the capital city hall. Do you want to go after the show in Bucharest to see what Nikuzor Dan did in Bucharest? Is there a developer in Bucharest who does not want to get rid of it once and for all? Is there anyone to praise Nikusor Dan? Did Nikuzor do something in Bucharest? You don’t have hot water, you don’t have cold water, I don’t know what kind of mafia he’s fighting,” Ciolacu said on Romanian television.
He added that “the administration is not accessible to everyone.”
“Mr. Nicusor Dan can be a smart man and I have come to know that he is a very smart man. Administration is not for everyone, it is not an easy job, you need to know how. I understand new people in politics, I saw what the one from Brasov did with the Accounting Court, I also saw the one from Timisoara. I’m sorry, at the moment these people have not coped with simple functions in the administration,” Čolaku assessed.
