
The United States will announce a new package of military aid to support Ukraine on Friday, the White House said, citing Reuters.
Aid to Ukraine is expected to be a major topic of discussion between President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz when the two leaders meet at the White House on Friday.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, White House spokesman John Kirby did not provide numbers on the new aid package, saying more details would be released soon.
The United States is polling its close allies on whether to impose new sanctions on China if Beijing provides military support to Russia in the war in Ukraine.
Kirby was asked if possible sanctions against China would be a topic for Biden and Scholz, and he said: “I would certainly expect that in the context of discussions about what is happening in Ukraine, the issue of third-party support would come up. Russia”.
