USR, PMP and Forța Dreptei expressed their support for Nikusor Dan less than a day after the announcement of the resignation of Cipriani Cucă from the PNL Bucharest leadership, who was one of the liberals who opposed the PNL-PSD alliance.
In addition, the gesture of the three parties also comes in the context of information that the PNL and the PSD are considering the possibility of cooperation at the local level, not excluding the support, formal or informal, of Gabriela Firea’s candidacy.
Immediately after Ciprian Czuku announced his resignation, Ludovic Orbán wrote on Facebook that he was following Nikusor Dan.
“I am translating Chuku’s resignation statement for you. PNL was also taught in Bucharest. He will play for “Fiereya” in the capital. I am convinced that the liberal voters in Bucharest will not do the same. As for me, I choose Nikusor Dan. And I am convinced that the center-right alliance can protect Bucharest from being taken over by the pesedist octopus,” Orban wrote.
USR leader Katelyn Drula met with Nikusor Dan on Wednesday.
“We continue our cooperation in the General Council and will do everything in our power so that Bucharest does not end up in the hands of Gabriela Firea again. Especially since PNL seems to be betraying the electorate and throwing itself into PSD’s arms also in Bucharest,” Drula wrote on Facebook.
And PMP leader Eugene Tomak met with Nikusor Dan and announced his support.
“The PNL betrayed the right-wing electorate when President Klaus Iohannis invited Romanians to vote for the PNL in 2020, as it is the only alternative to the PSD. The whole country knows what we have today. I want to assure you that we will be with the Mayor General of Bucharest and, obviously, on the territory we support right-wing forces, apart from PSD and PNL”, he stated. Eugene Tomak during a conference with Nikusor Dan.
USR, PMP and Forța Dreptei are holding discussions to create a new right-wing pole on the Romanian political scene, as an alternative to the PNL.
