Norwegian police briefly detained environmental activist Greta Thunberg during a demonstration in Oslo on Wednesday, an eyewitness told Reuters.
Indigenous and other activists demanding the removal of wind turbines from reindeer pastures in Norway have blocked access to several government buildings in recent days.
Thunberg and others who blocked one of the doors of Norway’s finance ministry were detained by police and escorted out of the area, while other demonstrators chanted slogans.
In 2021, Norway’s Supreme Court ruled that two wind farms built in Fosen in central Norway violated Sami rights under international conventions, but the turbines were still operating after more than 16 months.
Greta Thunberg was also detained by law enforcement in January in Germany during an anti-mining protest.
