
According to CNN, a senior US defense official told the House Armed Services Committee that the US and its allies have so far trained more than 4,000 Ukrainian troops.
“Collective training continues throughout Europe and significantly increases the Ukrainian united armed organizations. In total, the U.S. military has trained more than 1,000 Ukrainian service members since January, bringing the total number trained by the United States to just over 4,000,” said Lt. Gen. Douglas Sims II, director of operations for the Joint Chiefs. Chiefs of staff.
The U.S. military has also been training Ukrainians on the Patriot missile system at Fort Still, Oklahoma, and Sims announced that the training will soon end.
“The U.S. military will soon complete training and equipping the first Patriot battery in Ukraine,” Sims told the committee.
This is the first time the Pentagon has specified when the exercise might end.
“We are confident that the Ukrainians will use the Patriot with the same professionalism that they demonstrate every day with their current air defense capabilities,” Sims added.
