Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet said whether he will run again in the presidential elections scheduled for 2024, Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov told dpa.
President Putin is not worried about the campaign because he is very busy right now, Peskov told the Moscow daily Izvestia in statements made public on Tuesday, according to Agerpres.
“I have not yet heard him say whether he will run or not. That is, it is still premature,” said the Kremlin spokesman.
President Putin, who ordered the invasion of Ukraine last February, was president from 2000 to 2008 and from 2012 to the present.
After amending the Constitution, Vladimir Putin will be allowed to run for president again next year.
Previously, Vladimir Putin announced his candidacy quite late on the eve of the election, although his intention to stay in power was obvious to many.
