An earthquake rocked southeastern Turkey on Monday, killing one person, injuring 69 and causing buildings to collapse, Turkish authorities said, Reuters reported.
It comes three weeks after a massive earthquake killed more than 50,000 people in Turkey and Syria.
Yunus Sezer, head of Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD), told a press conference that search and rescue teams had been dispatched to five buildings.
According to the estimates of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the magnitude of the earthquake that occurred in the province of Malatya in the southeast of the country was 5.2. AFAD is rated at 5.6.
It happened at a depth of 5 km, according to EMSC.
Turkish media reported that two people were probably trapped under the debris of the building.
Turkey has arrested 184 people suspected of involvement in building collapses following this month’s earthquakes.
