On the missing section of the Transylvania Highway, work has just resumed after the previous contract was terminated two years ago due to roadblocks. It is the only missing section between Tirgu Mures and Cluj-Napoca, approximately 16 km from Cecani to Campia Turzii.
The STRABAG SRL – GEIGER TRANSILVANIA SRL association started work at the end of January-beginning of February, after several months of planning.
The contract was signed on October 16 for the amount of about 420 million lei. The term of the contract is 3 months for design and 18 months for execution. Thus, the batch should be ready in the first half of 2024.
Now the work started can also be seen from a drone – forum user peundemerg.ro is filming the entire 15.7 km route from Chețani to Câmpia Turzii, including the area of the Aries bridge from the ground:

The Chețani – Câmpia Turzii section is the only missing section of the Transylvania Highway between Tirgu Mures and Cluj-Napoca.
From Chețani on the A3, Tirgu Mures is 20 km, and from Câmpia Turzii, drivers can drive approximately 62 kilometers on the A3 to Nădăşelu, northwest of Cluj-Napoca.
When the Chețani – Câmpia Turzii section is completed, cars will be able to drive continuously on the Transylvania Highway for almost 97.7 km.
Tronson ceased operations in 2021 after blocking the former designer
In March 2021, the Road Company terminated the contract for the construction of 15.7 km of the A3 motorway between Cesani and Campia Turzii.
A previous contract worth about 280 million lei was signed back in 2015 with the Romanian company Straco, but then it went bankrupt and the work reached the stage below 40% only in 2021.
