Belarusian dictator Oleksandr reacted to a document presented in a joint investigation by the Kyiv Independent and a group of American and European media, which describes in detail Russia’s future steps to fully control the political, economic and military spheres of Belarus by 2030.
Speaking to local journalists at a sports event on Saturday, Lukashenko said the document detailing Russia’s plans to dominate Belarus and end its independence “could have been” written three years ago.
According to one of the sources cited in the investigation, an unnamed Western intelligence officer, the document was created in 2021 by the Kremlin’s Office for Cross-Border Cooperation.
According to the plan presented in the document, by 2030 Belarus should have a single currency and tax system with Russia, and its military and media space should be under Russian control.
Lukashenko told the state news agency Belta that Belarus and Russia discussed the formation of integration road maps three years ago.
“There were different points of view. Some said this, and others said otherwise. Maybe some officials (in Putin’s administration), a group of people suggested which way they will go with Belarus,” Lukashenko said, adding that he sees Belarus as an “independent and sovereign state.”
Lukashenko stated that the report on the cross-border investigation aims to divide Belarus and Russia.
