Weather during the three days of Maundy Monday: southerly winds favorable for kite flying and high temperatures.

Atmospheric circulation in the Mediterranean is expected to transport hot gaseous masses and African dust into our country during the three days of Clean Monday, according to forecast data from the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr.

However, on Clean Monday, winds in the Ionian and Continental areas are expected to ease and be favorable for steady kite flying.

In more detail, the main characteristics of the weather for three days will be:

  • Strengthening of the south winds, the strength of which on Sunday in the Aegean Sea will locally reach 8 points on the Beaufort scale.
  • Temperatures are high for the season, especially on Sunday and Maundy Monday. Air masses over our country will be 7-10 degrees warmer than seasonal values.
  • Increased concentrations of African dust, especially in the first two kilometers of the atmosphere.
  • At the same time, there will be no shortage of local rains, which on Sunday will affect areas of Western and Northern Greece, and on Clean Monday will be limited to the northeast of the country.
