“The first city he visited in Romania as ambassador was Timisoara. I thank Her Excellency Ms. Kathleen Kavalek, the new ambassador of the United States of America to Romania, for the visit and for the enthusiasm with which she spoke about Timisoara,” Dominique Fritz said on Thursday on his Facebook page.

The US ambassador and the mayor of Timisoara discussed various topics, including culture and the business environment.

“I spoke with the ambassador not only about culture, but also about the fragility of democracy and the struggle for the rule of law. But also about the business environment, because Timisoara is an economically dynamic city with significant investments from the USA and very attractive for American companies,” writes Fritz.

The mayor of Timisoara thanked the US ambassador to Romania, Kathleen Kavalek, for the message she sent him.

“We already have several common ideas and ambitions for cooperation that will open Timisoara not only to Europe, but also to America. I thank him for his words: “There is a wonderful sense of hope and of course a celebration of culture. “Timisoara is a great place to visit, a city with a future,” added Fritz.

In 2023, Timisoara received the title of European Capital of Culture, which the municipality of Sibiu also received in 2007.
