On the occasion of the official launch of the UK’s new alumni platform, Ms Maria Tsakali, Director of Education for the British Council in Greece, spoke to us about this new venture.

What is Alumni UK and who is it for?

This is a new global network created and offered by the British Council to people from all over the world outside the UK who are graduates of British higher education institutions who have studied either in the UK or in Greece, live or remotely. It is intended for graduates of all UK universities and all higher education programmes, regardless of the year in which they started or graduated.

What does Alumni UK offer?

By registering with Alumni UK, graduates in principle have the opportunity to connect with other UK graduates from Greece or elsewhere in the world in order to develop relationships or synergies and their professional network around the world.

They also get access to learning materials appropriate to their career stage, whether they are recent graduates just starting their careers or seasoned professionals.

They also have the opportunity to attend webinars, participate in online events and receive information about in-person events that will take place in Greece and will be exclusively for alumni registered on the platform.

What are the benefits for UK graduates who enroll?

The benefits are many and they are important. Basically, they get free and free access to a global network whose members, wherever they come from, share their British education.

Graduates have the opportunity to demonstrate their professional profile, experience, knowledge and skills at the international level. They come into contact with other alumni from all over the world and thus expand their professional networks around the world.

They get access to free educational materials and seminars that help them develop their knowledge and skills. For example, since the beginning of 2023, we have organized a number of workshops such as “Renewable Energy Master Class”, “Education and Technology Master Class”, “Social Media and Digital Content Development Training” and many others. The participants of the platform also have access to the recordings of these seminars, even if they did not have time to attend them.

At the end of March, March 27-31, 2023, we are holding one global online alumni festival, Graduates Great Britain Live, which will feature talks on topics relevant to alumni such as the future of work, entrepreneurship and more. In other words, they have access to exclusive materials offered only to its members Graduates Great Britain and which will help them develop their careers and discover new opportunities for further success.

Finally, they will be able to keep in touch with British culture and the English language, for example through newsletters, exchanges with other alumni, articles and other opportunities provided by the platform.
