A 17-year-old teenager was arrested for his involvement in an attack that took place last Monday against three minors after the end of a high school football game on a field in the municipality of Pilaia Chortiatis. According to the police, the identity of a young man, originally from Albania, was established and, after searches, was detained in the center of Thessaloniki.
He is accused of attacking, along with other accomplices with wooden objects, such as bats, three minors who were in the stands of the stadium, as a result of which they injured the head of a 15-year-old teenager who was taken to the hospital. Two other victims were given first aid.
The case was investigated by officials from the Pilea-Chortiatis Security Department and the Subdivision for Combating Sports Violence in Thessaloniki.
There was another episode on Friday, in the same stadium and at the same event, when a 16-year-old (local resident) threatened a teacher with a knife and hit him. The episode’s secondary “protagonist” was arrested and released by prosecutors while a speedy trial is scheduled.
Following the two aforementioned incidents, the municipality of Pilaia-Chortiatis decided to revoke the license for the stadium concession (Antonis Karaburniotis).
