In the summer, after an anonymous call to the non-profit organization’s helpline, an investigation began. Department for Combating Human Trafficking of the Security Servicewhich led to eight arrests – on Thursday – for pimping. The defendants, seven Albanian nationals and one Egyptian national, are charged with establishing an escort agency for the sexual exploitation of Latin American women. According to police sources, they deceived their victims, who, however, came to the country to work as extradited persons.

In particular, they were falsely told that they would be paid 5,000 euros a month, regardless of the amount romantic datesand also that they will work as many hours as they wish. However, the reality that women faced during their stay in the country was very different. Sources from GREEK POLICE. describe the girls as being held hostage in a gang-affiliated hotel on Syngrow Avenue. They also say that for every move they made outside the hotel, they had to get permission from gang members in advance, and that the alleged pimps forced them to let go from 11am until 6am the next day. If any of the extradited women refused to have sex with one of the clients, office managers obliged them to pay compensation equal to the cost of the date. Those issued came from Latin American countries with three-month visas.

The office maintained a website with photographs of extradited women and a related price list for services provided. In August, one of the victims called the four-digit helpline 1109 of A21, an international non-profit organization that specializes in supporting victims of human trafficking. This was followed by the removal of the mobile phone listed on the website from which the appointment was made. Through this process, police were able to find and identify the alleged mastermind behind the network and his associates, some of whom worked as drivers and others as call center workers. The latter was located in the area of ​​Agios Panteleimon and operated under the guise of a technical office belonging to the alleged “mastermind”.

In January 2023, during an investigation, another female victim of the ring called the emergency number 112 and complained that she had been caught in the ring’s nets. This movement of hers was noticed by the receptionists of the Syngrou Avenue Hotel, who hurried to warn the alleged ringleader. The specific conversation was recorded by EL.AS., in which the two members of the spiral said to each other, referring to the complainant: “We should have killed her, we should have thrown her into Waribompi.” Representatives of the Colombian police, as well as the US Homeland Security Service, participated in the investigation of the case. It is expected that today the detainees will appear before the investigator.
